Energy systems

Energy systems in basketball...
There are energy systems and within them there are 3, 1 is the atp-pc which last from 0-12, 2 is anaerobic which lasts for 12-2 mins and the last one is aerobic which continues from 2mins onwards
Examples
Free throw - 0-12 secs which is an atp-pc (phosphate)
lay-up - 0-12 secs once again atp-pc (phsophate)
Jump shot - 0-12 secs atp-pc (phsophate)

Kia ora Ivan,
Thanks for sharing your learning around the energy systems. I understand aerobic and anaerobic but what is atp-pc? Can you explain a bit more to me about this?

Kia ora Ivan,

My name is James and I work with Tania within the Manaiakalani Outreach team. This is a great post. Am I right in thinking that the longer distance events are more aerobic, while the explosive shorter distance or more intense events seem to be anaerobic? As Tania said, I too would love to know more about ATP-PC. Is this related to the respiration cycle? I remember the basics from being back at school, but defo need a refresher.

Looking forward to seeing more.

James
